We Came For The GT3 RS, Mostly
It’s that time of year again – the New York Auto Show at the Jacob Javits Center (Javits Center). And with one of us having worked tradeshows at the Javits Center in a non-auto related industry for over a decade, this visit was a different experience in an old but familiar building.
The building’s façade is great but the best part is the glass canopy weaving through the main building which floods the space with an enormous amount of natural light, even on the cloudiest days, like the day we visited. Sadly, the exhibit floors are under a solid roof so we soaked up the main building’s features prior to hitting the Porsche exhibit.
I Spy A Green Beast A Mile Away
Upon entering, we scanned the floor and something bright green (almost electric) caught our eye and we made a b-line to Porsche at the back of the show, blowing by other manufacturer’s cars.
Wow, what a jaw-dropping shade of electric green! “Lizard Green” to be exact. And we think the girl in the image below effectively sums up our feelings on the 2019 Porsche GT3 RS (mind blown).
For this particular car, Porsche added the optional $18,000 Weissach package, consisting of additional lightweight carbon bits and a magnesium roll cage. That 520 hp of badassery comes with an equally badass price of $222,350 – gulp!
Bold Color
In our opinion, the naturally-aspirated GT3 RS is the best street-legal 911 and having seen the car in other colors in various publications, ‘Lizard Green’ is by far the wildest of them all.
We’re glad Porsche chose such a bold color, making the car stand out from an otherwise drab sea of black and grey cars. After seeing something as impressive as the Porsche GT3 RS, there really wasn’t a need to see any other cars.
Sorry, not sorry.
